My AP was approved Nov 16. Email from USCIS said approval notice sent. I had to travel Dec 4th. When my lawyer contacted USCIS on Nov 25th, USCIS said they were in the process of printing the form. My lawyer suggested trying for the emergency AP. The Baltimore office says walk-ins not allowed. My travel was postponed for other reasons. Double check that USCIS actually mailed the notices to you.

I think there is a rule, heard from a student who was advised by the International Student Advisor. They should be the most reliable source of this information.

My brother graduated in Dec 08 and is on OPT now. He is with a consultant and he was wondering if there is any rule which states that folks on OPT should get a job in 3 months, otherwise the OPT will not be valid.

I'm sure you'll be okay. All they want to know is the basis of your eligibility for filing I-485 and choosing (h) and adding this explanation should be fine.

also try taking appointment by sending someone to the mumbai office. only a portion of the appointments are available on the internet. you can get a better date by taking a local appointment. it can be taken anywhere where there is VFS office (pune etc) if mumbai is not a convenient place for you. this was the case around 3 years ago, i dont know if it has changed now, but worth exploring the option.

I fail to understand one fundamental thing with Immigration , GOP and Dems .
The GOP was againt latino immigration and had workplace raids with ICE agents and Dogs and Armed soilders ( we all know what they did ) . They Lost the elections and everyone said it is the lationo vote that caused their downfall.
Now come the Dems who are just dodging the ball cleverly , with Economy , healthcare , Wars all over the globe and so on and also care little about immigration. At tlest the workplace raids have stopped .
I am not latino and from India , as an outsider and onlooker to the entire immigration drama , I would want to ask what real choices do the latio voters have ? They just came out from the Fire( GOP Days earlier ) to Boiling oil( Dems Days now) and now they are complaining that they want to vote the govt out and bring back the old govt that had them in fire . I mean what is these threats all about , when either party does not seem to be interested in doing anything except for paying lip service ? With the current attitude of both the parties they have to either select Fire or boiling oil .

Dear DC/MD/VA Members:
We have come to a point where lot of friends would be joining us. I would encourage all of DC/MD/VA members to open their houses to host or support financially or donate miles or do anything that would minimize the expenses for our fellow friends and make them welcome.
More than that I would like to emphasize that we need to participate in large numbers volunteering and make this event a grand success.

Wait time for spouse to get a green card as a derivative from you would be apporximately 5 years since you already have your green card now. the best option is to wait for to get your US citizenship and them apply for your spouse and in that case the max. wait time os only 3-6 months. Hoep this helps.

Note that EAD is not a valid document for re-entry.
If you have a valid AP - you can re-enter
or
If you have a valid H1/H4 AND un-expired visa stamping - you can re-enter
I had my H1 extension pending and I was able to re-enter using AP (on July 18, 2008 at San Francisco)
She has the F1 stamped on the passport which is valid until Dec 2009 I think. She is finishing much before that. Does it mean she will not be able to reenter on either F1 visa or the EAD?

I am in a strange situation. I was on H1 and applied for H1 extension, I also applied for F1 and got approved for that. Once I received my F1 approval I told my employer to cancel the processing of H1.
Now my employer says that the H1 was approved. Now which status I am in is the main problem. Can I find out which status I am in by any means? what happens if my employer cancels the H1 will i be on F1 or is my F1 no more valid? please can someone help me as I need to take a decision immediately.
