Hi, My Lawyer says that texas SWA gave him a figure of $ 105,000 annual salary as a prevailing wage for 5 years experience java,j2ee guy.

$105,000 salary for 5 years exp with J2EE/Java sounds rights to me. People with 2/3 year experience are making around 80-85k.

this is great, even after working with acrylics for a while, my portraits never got better than this!

i am switching employers and i have about 10k in my 401k with current employer. my next employer does not have the option to start 401k until after one year of service.i am looking for options to rollover my 401k to a IRA in a company. does anyone have any recommendations?thanks in advance
I still have my 401K from my old job that I quit about 3 yrs back into the same (company's) account. The reason I didn't roll them into IRA is that I prob would have made the same selection of mutual funds that I currently have in my 401K. The company is stable so no worries there. Point is, move your money only if you think it will serve you a better purpose or else wait for your new 401K to kick in and after that just roll over the other account directly into the new one...
Just my 2 cents, of course...

Aliens who married or had children before the date of obtaining permanent residency can possibly confer �following-to-join� benefits to their family members. Due to this process, spouses and children will be able to receive green cards quickly. �Following-to join� is not family based immigration, but is similar to a child/spouse receiving derivative benefits based on a primary LPR�s immigration petition.
Here are the following requirements to be met in order for a spouse or child to qualify under �following-to-join�:
1. The LPR must have adjusted status or obtained an immigrant visa through a preference category (family or employment based) or diversity lottery. A LPR�s visa number must also be current in order for a family member to receive �following-to-join�.
2. The petitioner married/had children before becoming a permanent resident and the relationship between the permanent resident and spouse/child is intact at the time of filing. Children of LPRs must be unmarried and under the age of 21. Furthermore, the child/step-child must be from an existing marriage before the LPR obtained permanent residency.
�Following-to-join� is convenient because it allows primary beneficiaries to do away with filing a separate I-130 for their spouse or child, greatly expediting the green card approval process. I just came across the News about Donations by Indian Legal Immigrant to the US hospital. Link is given below

I am sure there are several other legal immigrants donations to the US hospitals, Colleges and Universities etc.
I am sure that if we can link those all in one thread and later on can be compiled by IV to make strong point that Legal immigrant apart from generating lots of jobs and economical growth for US also contribute generously to various progressive causes, by the wealth that they make because of their creative mind and skills.
On other hand there is a debate about undocumented workers relying on the US tax payers resources.

My company applied for my L1B petition in 2007 which was approved and I got an L1 visa in Mar 2007 which was valid until Aug 2009. However I traveled to the U.S only in December 2008. Since my L1 visa was expiring by Aug I applied for a L1 extension in May 2009. This was rejected in August due to some confusion with the I-94. So I had to travel back to India in Aug 2009.
I then applied for a fresh L1 visa based on my company's L1 Blanket petition. I got this new L1 visa in Sep 2009 and returned back to the U.S. This new visa is valid until Sep 2011.
My question is can I apply for another L1 extension?
Will my visa duration or stay duration be considered when applying for another extension?
I have stayed in the U.S on L1 status only from Dec 2008 - Am I not allowed 5 years?
Also I am not sure whether I have exhausted my quota of extensions. Will my case be considered as 2.5 years the first time and 2 years extension the second time?
Or will the Blanket visa be considered a fresh start allowing me another extension?

If the new PWD guidelines were effective 01/01/10, then it shouldn't effect your PWD since it was filed on 12/30/09. You should try and find some document or FAQs to prove the same and send them to your lawyer. My guess is he might have messed up something in your process and is trying to cover it up with this story. Its better to have him re-start the process in that case because if he infact messed up something and he files your PERM, it could be potentially denied which will directly impact you...Try to find out if what he is saying is infact true (which I doubt), or if he is just mistaken..

Few SSA offices do allow to submit application for SSN few days before 10/01. But few of them donot allow and suggests to come on or after 10/01.
So just give a try. But request them if they were able to find your information in the system. Few offices, though they donot find in the system, they take the application but few of them say that they could not find the information in the system and will suggest to come back again.

Right now Atlanta Processing Center processing May 2008 priority date for clean cases....for audited cases July 2007...
It's not true that all the cases will got to Atlanta Processing Center ...if any case that has been auidted will be moved to Atlanta Processing Center.

When 140 is denied, then 485 is also denied. Appeal going to AAO is common thing. Will sit there forever. Its takes approximately 12-20 months to get a reply.
Mine is already crossed 12 months now.
